| Notes | This is a Ford PMGR Starter for the 2000-05 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable With the Standard 3.0L Engine. The Optional 3.0L Engine Uses the 6643. The 6642 is a 12-Tooth Drive Which Looks Just Like the Previously Used 3270 (10-Tooth). In May 2003, the 6654 Was Superseded to the 6642 as it Was Thought They Were the Same Unit. In November 2006 We Reversed This, as the 6654 Has the Ignition Stud on the Same Side of the Solenoid as the 3230, While the 6642 Has This Stud on the Opposite Side. The Units are the Same Otherwise. The 6654 is the Unit That Can Replace the 3230 if an Ignition Stud is Desired. | This is a PMGR Starter. It Replaced the YF1U-11000-AA (6642). They are the Same Unit, With the Exception That the 6F1U-11000-AA is a "Hex Chrome" Free Version. Hex Chrome Was a Widely Used Plating That Was Used on Many Fasteners to Prevent Oxidation. Federal Environmental Laws Have Changed, Making the Use of Hex Chrome Prohibited |
