NotesThis is Another Version of the 8250 (Probably). | A Change Has Been Made in the 8250 as of 6/2003. A New Number Was Created Because of a Difference Found in the Regulators Used in Part Number 8250. The Earliest Version, Alternator OE #98BB-10300-CC (See 8309), Uses Regulator #XS7U-10C359-AC, Distinguished By a White Colored Cover. Later Versions (8250) Use Regulator #XS7U-10C359-BA, Distinguished By an Orange Cover. Both Regulators Use "I-FR-A" Terminals, But the FR Signal Generated By the Two Regulators is Different. This Difference Can Be Seen on a Good Lab Scope. The Problem Becomes Apparent When Installed in the Car. If the Regulator Used in the 8309 (OE #98BB-10300-CC) is Installed in an 8250 Application (OE #XS91-10300-BB, BC), the Car May Not Idle Properly. It Has Been Reported That the 8250 (Using It's Orange Cover Regulator) Can Replace This 8309, But the 8309 (White Cover Regulator) Cannot Replace the 8250 for the Reasons Pointed Out. Also, the 8250 and 8260 are the Same Unit EXCEPT, Using a Different Voltage Regulator, Which Makes the Units NOT Interchangeable.
