NotesThis is a Ford 6G Alternator Which Looks Just Like the 7799 Used on Earlier Trucks, Except the 8317 Has a Rectifier With Avalanche Diodes, While the 7799 Does Not. The Change Was Made in the Rectifier So That Other Electronic Devices Would Not Need Load Dump Protection, as This is Accomplished By the Avalanche Diodes. The 8317 Can Be Used in Place of the 7799, But the 7799 Should Not Be Used in Place of the 8317.
